Whatnot shipping labels on a 4x6 printer: sideways and small fixed

Whatnot generates labels at 8.5 x 11 in unless you change it, and that Letter page is what prints sideways or tiny on a 4x6 thermal printer. Set Default Label Options to 4 x 6 in on the Shipments page, then regenerate. Packing slips have a separate size setting, and bulk printing only exists on the website.

Switch the default to 4x6

1. On the Whatnot website, open Shipments.
2. In the sidebar, under Default Label Options, set the shipping label size to 4 x 6 in. Set the packing slip size too if you print slips on the same printer.
3. New labels use it from then on. Labels already generated keep their old size — regenerate them in the new size one at a time, on the website.

Printing a whole show at once

1. On the Shipments page, filter by show if you want one show only.
2. Select All, then Generate Labels.
3. Choose Export Shipping Label / Slips: labels, slips or both, the sort order, and the size.
4. Click View & Print PDF. Labels open as a PDF in a new window, so allow pop-ups for whatnot.com.

On a Mac, print that PDF with the paper size set to 4 x 6 in and scale at 100%. If labels come out in reverse order, the page-order setting in the export is the one to change.

Why labels come out sideways

Whatnot does not document it, but the pattern matches what printer makers describe: an 8.5 x 11 file on 4x6 stock. The label sits across the Letter page, and the printer either rotates it or shrinks the page to fit. Setting the default to 4x6 removes the cause.
